Dubai Dolphinarium 5^th Birthday

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – April 25^th, Thursday 2013 – Dubai Dolphinarium is delighted to announce the latest addition to its dolphin family. The yet to be named baby bottle-nose dolphin is approaching his first birthday and was born at the dolphinarium on the 28^th May 2012 to proud parents Senya and Ksyusha. Visitors to Dubai Dolphinarium will be able to meet the baby when Dubai Dolphinarium celebrates its 5^th birthday 17-25^th May. Visitors to our shows can win return tickets to India and the Far East with Jet Airways, weekend staycations from SATA, balloon rides with Balloon Adventures, Centre-point vouchers and much more! Before and after the shows children will be entertained by mascots, puppet show and face-painters.

The 6pm musical and illusion ‘Pirates of the Dolphinarium’ extravaganza will include a very special illusion never seen before in the UAE, the audience will be invited to secure Max Stevenson the Master Illusionist into a straight-jacket and then challenged to work out how escapes against the clock!

Guests can try and navigate the UAE’s only mirror maze - a dizzying, labyrinth with a visual size of over 10,000 square feet. Visitors are challenged to find their way through a baffling and disconcerting maze of mirrors, finding themselves disoriented in a bewildering network of endless corridors achieved by a complex arrangement of reflecting glass. Once within the mirrors, they won't be able to work out which way to go and will have to use their senses of touch and adventure to work out the way.

Twice per day Monday to Thursday and three times per day at weekends, the interactive Dubai Dolphinarium extravaganza showcases the amazing dolphins’ astounding skills. Watch in wonder as the dolphins and seals dance, sing, juggle, play ball, jump through hoops and even paint.

Daily swimming with dolphins sessions allow visitors a once in a life-time experience, suitable for visitors from 5 years onwards.

A Dolphin Christmas

Three shows every day from 21^st till 31^st December!!!

Everyone is invited to join the bottlenose dolphins, fur seals, trainers, Santa Claus, mascots, clowns and the dolphinarium staff for the Christmas celebrations 2012!

Ten days of festive atmosphere: beautiful Christmas tree, lots of lights, thrilling songs, generous gifts, unforgettable fun and joy for all ages! Have your pictures taken with Santa and Snowman or other Christmas characters, watch the premiere of the puppet show “Friends”, staged by Harlequin Theatre, and enjoy the one-and-only spectacular live dolphin performance in sync with the “Pirates of the Dolphinarium” show.

Pirates of the Dolphinarium is a recently staged show which is a combination of love story, drama, musical, fairy tale, actions and large scale illusions performed by the French illusionist Max Stevenson. After the incredible journey to the world of sea-bandits, the bottlenose dolphins will bring you back to reality. The audience can witness the graceful dolphins showing off their incredibly smart behaviors: Senya performing the tail walking, Tetka and Jerry juggle with the balls, Fekla dancing Twist, Ksyusha painting with her rostrum.

Best Looking Man in Dubai to be Crowned at Dubai Dolphinarium!

The Mr. Dubai Contest 2012 will be launched soon! This year it will take place at Dubai Dolphinarium, where 23 participants from 8 different countries - Philippines, India, Pakistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Palestine and China, will be competing against each other for the title of ‘Mr. Dubai’!

The event is divided into three main rounds. The opening ceremony and the fashion show will take place on 16th November at 8:30 pm. In this part the participants will be walking the catwalk dressed in three styles: street wear, party wear and beach wear. The winners will be accordingly nominated by judges for each style.

Second round will be the Talent Competition on 23rd November at 8:30 pm. Here each member of the contest will be showing off their talents to impress the judges.

Finally the third part is the Closing Night on December 7th. This is where the Question & Answer contest takes place, giving the participants an opportunity to express their personality. At the end of the final round the previous rounds winners will be announced followed by the crowning of Mr. Dubai.

“The idea to create the ‘Mr. Dubai Contest’ was initially to foster mutual understanding and brotherhood between young men from different cultures and backgrounds that live here in Dubai. Our aim is also to give opportunity to the participants to discover their talents and be discovered by others. We are all excited and looking forward to the event! ”, said Joe Mari Hernandez, the organizer of the Mr. Dubai annual event.

We Are Reopening

Dubai Dolphinarium has been closed for the month of Ramadan. This has given the dolphins and the staff a much needed break. Our animals have been relaxing in our training pool for the past 4 weeks whilst our show pool was getting renovated for the new season.

We have re decorated the arena and completed our new life support system for the water, so the dolphins will have much better and a crystal clear water to live in.

The first two shows of the new season will be held on 17^th and 18^th August at 11am. There will be three shows a day, during Eid holidays at 11am, 3pm and 6pm. More activities will be organized for children, before every show program, such as balloon bending, face painting, mascot’s entertainment and a magician.

Come and watch Ksyusha performing the tail walking, Jerry and Fekla juggling with balls, Senya dancing a twist, and of course the funny fur seals singing, playing hula-hoop and much more.

Marriage Proposals Becoming a Habit at Dubai Dolphinarium!

It seems that dolphins at Dubai Dolphinarium have a positive influence on young people to propose to their beloved ones.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – May 29^th, Tuesday, 2012– A Greek couple- Maria and Nicolas have been in a relationship for the last 4 years. Nicolas was planning to propose longtime back but couldn’t find the suitable time and place so far.

They came to Dubai with their close friends – Vasilis and Agapi, who suggested coming to Dubai Dolphinarium to watch the Live Dolphin and Seal show. During the show program Nicolas made up his mind about the proposal!

“I thought what can be better than to propose here, Maria just loves dolphins, it’s going to work”, told us Nicolas.

Once the show was over, four of them queued for taking pictures with the dolphins. Maria, still unaware of what had Nicolas planned, stepped forward towards the dolphins and sat next to them waiting for the photographer to take pictures. Instead, Nicolas approached her and kneed in front her with the golden ring in his hands.

Applause and congratulations were head from those who were in arena.

“I wanted to cry out of happiness but it was so unexpected and shocking that even tears didn’t appear in my eyes”, said Maria.

This is the second marriage proposal that took place at Dubai Dolphinarium in this year. The staff members and the gracious dolphins wish the newly engaged couple to live happily ever after!

We are 4 Years Old!

Over 10,000 people visited Dubai Dolphinarium during 4^th Anniversary Celebrations from 15-22 May, 2012.

This is a very significant year for us indeed, as recently - in the month of March we welcomed our “One Millionth Visitor". The whole festive week was full of fun and surprises! No effort has been spared by Dubai Dolphinarium to please the visitors’ expectations. On our birthday itself the mascot Dolphy appeared in the arena carrying a three-tiered blue colored cake, which had been especially designed for this occasion and invited everyone for the after-party, with cake!

Our One Millionth Visitor!!

SPEED Show By Max Stevenson

Max Stevenson is back at Dubai Dolphinarium with a new show called “SPEED”!!!

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – January 23, 2012 – Starting from February 1^st 2012 the illusionist Max Stevenson will be back at Dubai Dolphinarium with new, breathtaking and unforgettable show program called “SPEED”.

The show promises to be really fast - 10 illusions in 20 minutes. You’ll need to hold your breath in order not to miss a thing! Get ready to witness 4 girls appearance from 2 transparent boxes, the illusionist’s escape from locked iron box which is lifted above the pool with the dolphins and also a girl to be sliced into 9 pieces and rejoined again and much more.

“The Illusion Show” in sync with the “Dolphin Show” was supposed to be only in the month of October 2011, but due to the public demand Dubai Dolphinarium extended it until December 31^st 2011. And yet that was not enough!

After one month break in January 2012, French Illusionist Max Stevenson is back at the dolphinarium with new ideas and new large scale illusions to perform. The show will be every day at 6pm, except Sundays.

“It’s amazing to work at Dubai Dolphinarium and see dolphins every day. I like the combination of The Illusion show and The Dolphin show. Dolphins are themselves magical creatures. ” said Max.

“I feel that Dubai has big potential, there are so many things to make disappear or appear. Of course I promise to Dubai Dolphinarium not to make disappear the dolphins”, added Max with a smile.

Max the Illusionist to Perform at Dubai Dolphinarium

Max is well known for staging large scale illusions. The appearance of a 9 meters helicopter is the world’s largest stage illusion performed by Max in a cruise ship theater. Also one of his most famous tricks was a stunt in which he disappears walking through a giant jet turbine!

Along with being featured on numerous events and TV shows around the world, Max Stevenson also had special performances that allowed him to built friendship with megastar - Michael Jackson and even to be invited to perform for the French President - Nicolas Sarkozy

New Show at Dubai Dolphinarium for Eid Al Fitr As Promised

Dolphins Are Eager to Show Their New Behaviors

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – August 28, 2011 – Dubai Dolphinarium is reopening after Ramadan and coming up with a totally new stage design and a new show program for Eid Al Fitr and upcoming season.

3D designed “Beach Stage” with a real wild waterfall was specially chosen and made by professional to create an ideal atmosphere and to make it friendlier both for dolphins, seals and the audience.

Armen Kostanyan, Marketing Manager at Dubai Dolphinarium said: “We are very excited for upcoming season. Our footfall has increased for 20% to 25% comparing to the last year and Dubai Dolphinarium will continue its contribution to be one of the most favorite family entertainment destinations in the Middle East”.

Successful 3 Years

Over 15000 visitors at DUBAI Dolphinarium during Birthday Celebrations

Dubai, United Arab Emirates- May 26, 2011- Dubai Dolphinarium is officially 3 years old. Birthday celebrations started on 12^th May and lasted until 21^st May hosting over 15,000 visitors. Over 800,000 guests including over 120,000 students from different schools across whole UAE were entertained during these 3 years.

Special entertainment was organized by mascots, clowns, life band, and puppet show to entertain children and their parents, before all show programs. After watching 45 minutes spectacular performance of bottlenose dolphins and funny fur seals in a “Life Dolphin and Seal” show guests were treated to a birthday cake.

The celebrations were followed by an Awards Ceremony organized for all partners. Among those who received crystal dolphin trophies were Dubai Relax Travels as the Best Partner 2011, Yahoo Tours as the Best DMC Partner 2011, Arabian Falcon Holidays as the Best Timeshare Partner 2011, Wonder Bus Tours as the Best Associated Partner 2011, Turan Tourism as The Best Travel Desk Partner 2011 and 10 other companies received an appreciation certificate for their cooperation with Dubai Dolphinarium.

Autism Awareness Day at Dubai Dolphinarium

Over 600 children from different autism and special needs centres across whole UAE were hosted at dolphinarium on 28^th of April, Thursday.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – May 2, 2011- Dubai Dolphinarium in association with Dubai Municipality organized an Autism Awareness Day hosting over 600 children from Dubai Autism Centre, Sharjah Special Needs Centre, Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, Abu Dhabi Special Care Centre, Safe Centre, Sharjah Autism Centre, Child Early Intervention Centre and other organizations across UAE.

Clad in their uniforms children from all centres arrived early in the morning accompanied by their parents and educators. They were entertained by clowns, jugglers and mascots, followed by Live Dolphin and Seal Show later at11am and a puppet show at 12pm.

“Our children one to all enjoyed themselves tremendously, seeing the dolphins and their tricks in the water are an unforgettable experience, those children who are verbal went home and told the parents where they had gone. It is extremely kind of you to think about our children thank you once again. Hope in the future we will be able to visit the wonderful Dolphinarium more often”, said Ms. Jameela from Al Noor Special Needs Centre.

“Thank you very much for your kind care towards our center and our children, the Dolphanrium trip was a great fun ,The Children and their families had enjoyed the show and were excited and happy with the water splashes and your beautiful performance. Autism is one of the fast developing developmental disorders and the Month of April is the Autism Awareness month, we believe your contribution had made a great impact on the Children affected by Autism and their parents who find these gestures as great support to their children, as you know it is a long way to recovery and they need support along that way.

“It was really fantastic, the show was absolutely amazing, my daughter enjoyed every minute of it. It was exciting to watch dolphins and seals do all those tricks, they were wonderful. And the swimming was an unforgettable experience for my daughter and why not for me also. I already promised Natarie that we will come here again next year”, said Radek.

Radek Philipp is a professional ice hockey player since 1998 and is currently plays in HC Sparta Praha team in the Czech Extraliga.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - April 11, Sunday - Over 7000 South Africans including children and adults welcomed Dolphy from Dubai Dolphinarium on South African Freedom Day and Rugby Legends Weekend on 8^th of April in Jebel Ali Shooting Club.

Dolphy from Dubai Dolphinarium, a –five-months-old mascot fond of playing, dancing with kids and bringing smiles to families all day long, visited this special event on Friday afternoon.

All kids and families were gladly surprised and excited to see Dolphy walking around and greeting everyone, it was vivid that Dolphy brought more joy and fun to all guests. Kids were playing with Dolphy, hugging and running around it, eager to take a photo with lovely mascot and get a special present prepared by Dubai Dolphinarium.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – November 8, 2010 – The first dolphin calf for the family of dolphins at Dubai Dolphinarium was born on 10.10.10, at 12.40pm to 20-year-old Black Sea bottlenose dolphin Ksyusha following 12 months of pregnancy, in a dedicated pool within the facility.

The calf, whose sex is still undetermined, is spending most of its time bonding with its mother, nursing and learning to control the movements of its body. It measures about 90cm in length and weighs approximately 10-11kg, a healthy increase of about 20cm and 3-4kg since its birth.

“Ksyusha’s pregnancy was confirmed in November 2009, following an evaluation of a blood sample. We monitored her health by conducting regular medical assessments throughout the whole gestation period to ensure that everything was normal. The delivery went without complications, and Ksyusha is immensely enjoying being a new mother,” said Alexander Zanin, Head Marine Mammal Specialist, Dubai Dolphinarium.

“The calf constantly swims along Ksyusha’s side and follows her movements. We will continue daily observations for about a year to monitor the calf’s progress. The whole marine mammal team at Dubai Dolphinarium is thrilled to have a new baby to look after,” he added.

Zanin got a call at 12pm to come to the maternity pool to watch the birth, along with five other marine mammal specialists. The Dolphinarium was closed between October 11 and 14 to allow the mother and calf to bond.

This is the first calf for Ksyusha, one of the five bottlenose dolphins at the Dolphinarium. The baby’s father, Senya, is 24 years old. The calf is expected to appear in public next summer. Meanwhile, photographs and videos of the calf will be uploaded to the Dolphinarium’s website, www.dubaidolphinarium.ae. The Dolphinarium is planning to name the calf using input from the public in early December.

1,000 people gathered in Dubai Dolphinarium on Saturday for a fun afternoon out to raise awareness about diabetes

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – November 14, 2010 – 1,000 people gathered in Dubai Dolphinarium on Saturday, November 13 in a joint initiative to raise diabetes awareness by Emirates Diabetes Society, Sanofi-Aventis and Dubai Dolphinarium in anticipation of the World Diabetes Day on November 14.

Clad in light blue t-shirts with the World Diabetes Day logo, children, parents and educators enjoyed a fun afternoon out at the Dolphinarium, where they saw a dolphin and seal show, were entertained by clowns and mascots, and were treated to healthy snacks.

“We have gathered here today to raise awareness among the general public about what diabetes is and how it can be managed and prevented. This is especially important in the UAE, where the prevalence of type 1 and type 2 diabetes is high,” said Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al Madani, Head of Emirates Diabetes Society. “Both the children and their parents had a great time – there were lots of smiles.”

Among the 1,000 people who visited Dubai Dolphinarium on Saturday were those who had diabetes, their loved ones, and those who showed up just to show their support for battling the disease. Over 100 children from non-profit diabetes support group Sweetkidz were also at the event.

”Thank you for making us feel so special,” said Hadia Abdulaziz, a UAE national and a member of Sweetkidz. “My daughter Buthaina is 11 years old and has had diabetes since she was three. Children with diabetes sometimes feel that they are burden to their family and to society. This event allowed my daughter to take her friends and loved ones out for a great day, and she knew that she was so much more than just a burden.”
